Variety

The Blatina is an autochthon Herzegovina variety, originating in the vineyards of HEPOK Ljubuški. The high quality of Blatina is well known trough the centuries. It is very rare, almost unique variety, having only a female flower it requests a special care.

Geographical Origin, Soil and Climate

The HEPOK Vineyards, planted and nourished on fertile soil of Trebižat river valley, next to town of Ljubuski, are one of the best in Herzegovina. The region is very well known for excellent red wines, even since the Greek times.
The terroir of Ljubuski is determined by the Mountains in the North and Adriatic Sea in the South. Being on the border between Continental and Mediterranean climate creates unique conditions for excellent red wines.

Fermentation and Production

The grapes are harvested by hand and cooled in the vineyard, immediately after picking. Minimum of 10 days of temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel fermenters, constant analyses and regular hygienic controls are the up to date standards we apply, but the key secrets for extraordinary wines hides within the great Blatina tradition and knowledge only HEPOK winemakers have.
